100 Greatest Canadians

I know ‘100 greatest…’ lists are meant to be taken with a pinch of salt, but this is bloody ridiculous.


Let’s see:

18. Shania Twain

20. Mike Myers

27. Celine Dion

29. Jim Carrey

39. Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart

40. Avril Lavigne

41. John Candy

51. Pamela Anderson

56. William Shatner

82. Dan Akroyd (Ok…maybe he deserves it.)

But the most annoying thing about this list is that Candian-born writer Saul Bellow actually won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1976 but didn’t even make the top 100. Clearly in the eyes of the Canadian Public literary classics such as Herzog and Seize the Day are no match for cultural milestones like Skater Boi, So I Married an Axe Murderer or ‘The Excellence of Execution’.
